Project Description
Pernice Artist Residency
By Paris Bermudes
The idyllic farm and winery nestled in the Jato Valley of Sicily has throughout history hosted notable musicians. The Sallier de La Tour family has patronized artists and musicians for centuries. An official artist-residency was the next step in Pernice’s long-standing involvement with the arts.
The Pernice Artist Residency is conceived and curated by Cornelia Lauf for Paolo Sallier de La Tour. Paolo Sallier de La Tour, artist and heir to the historic farm, is the executive producer of the artist residency. The farm provides a creative retreat and inspirational center for artists and musicians worldwide. It welcomed its first resident, Dennis Balk, in the autumn of 2019.
Paris Bermudes is from the charming island of Martha’s Vineyard. After graduating from Furman University, she moved to Rome in 2018 to travel and teach English before discovering JCU and pursuing her passion for Art History.
